Judge Rules New York City Taxis Violate Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)

A U.S. District Judge has [ruled][1] that New York City's Taxi and Limousine Commission (TLC) is in violation of the ADA for failing to provide meaningful access to taxicabs for wheelchair users. The decision is in response to a lawsuit filed by United Spinal and other disability rights groups in 2011 against TLC for failing to provide fair service to wheelchair users. According to United Spinal only 230 of the City's 13,000 yellow cabs are accessible.
