EEOC Sues Wal-Mart for Disability Discrimination & Retaliation

The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) has charged Wal-Mart with violating federal law when it did not accommodate, and then later fired an employee with a disability. The employee has a heart condition which makes walking difficult. He was barred from using the handicap parking spaces although the company knew about his disability. Under the [Americans with Disabilities Act][1], employers must provide reasonable accommodations to an employee with a disability, unless it causes significant difficulty or expense for the employer.
