HHS Releases More than $845 Million to States to Help Low-Income Households with Energy Costs

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is providing more than $845 million to states to help low-income households with their home energy costs. Under the [Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program][1] (LIHEAP), low-income households, including families with children and seniors, can get help paying for their home energy needs such as winter heating, summer cooling and home insulating to reduce energy costs. Individuals who want to apply for energy assistance should contact their [local LIHEAP agency][2].
