American Apparel, Inc., a clothing manufacturer, will pay $60,000 to settle a disability discrimination lawsuit filed by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC). The company violated federal law when it fired a garment worker while he was on leave because of a disability and failed to accommodate him. Under the [Americans with Disabilities Act][1], employers must provide reasonable accommodations to an employee with a disability, unless it causes significant difficulty or expense for the employer.
