Vitas Healthcare of Miami violated federal law for refusing to reasonably accommodate an employee. A nurse with hypertension requested to be reassigned to a vacant hospice nurse position, which did not require extensive driving. Vitas forced the nurse to compete for the position, which would have allowed her to continue her nursing work, but she did not get it. Under the [Americans with Disabilities Act][1], employers must provide reasonable accommodation to an employee with a disability, unless doing so would cause significant difficulty or expense for the employer.
