B&B Pharmacy to Pay $70,000 for Disability Discrimination in EEOC Suit

The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) has charged Gemmel Pharmacies Inc., doing business as B&B Pharmacy, with disability discrimination for denying a reasonable accommodation to an employee and then firing him. The employee had severe diabetes and renal failure. When he requested leave for a kidney transplant and unpaid leave to recover, he was fired and replaced. Under the [Americans with Disabilities Act][1], employers must provide reasonable accommodations to an employee with a disability, unless it causes significant difficulty or expense for the employer.
