Nearly $300 Million Awarded to States to Enroll Eligible Children in Health Coverage

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has awarded more than $296 million to 23 states so that more children can have health coverage. The [performance bonus payments][1] are funded through the Children's Health Insurance Program Reauthorization Act. To qualify for these payments, states must enroll more children than a set target number. They also must adopt procedures that improve access to [Medicaid][2] and the [Children's Health Insurance Program][3], making it easier for eligible children to enroll and keep coverage.
