District of Columbia to Have Reserved Parking Meters for Persons with Disabilities

The District Department of Transportation will start a new program to improve access for persons with disabilities to businesses and services in the city. Beginning in late January, the District will have reserved metered parking spaces for persons with disabilities with distinctive "red top" meters. This new program sets aside curbside parking spaces for the exclusive use by persons with disabilities and eliminates the free parking in metered spaces.
