New Report Shows Adults with Disabilities Are More Likely to Be Victims of Violence

A new research [study][1] has found that adults with disabilities are at higher risk of being victims of violence than adults without disabilities. People with mental illness are among the most vulnerable, with about 24 percent reporting having experienced physical, sexual or "intimate partner" violence during the past year. The study looked at the results of 26 prior studies that included 21,500 people with a range of physical and mental disabilities from seven countries.
