iPad - A Voice for Children with Autism
iPad: More than a Toy; a Voice for The Disabled - ACDS, The Association for Children with Down Syndrome, of Plainview NY has been taking advantage of the "hottest" trend in technology to help improve developmental levels of children who are disabled. The infamous iPad has been a hot topic since its first debut in Spring 2010. For children without a voice, the iPad is more than just an expensive "toy" and "tablet". Recently, a list of vocabulary words came out for children around the age of 2. For children with disabilities, some may not speak until Kindergarten – but through use of this iPad it gives hope and promise that a child with Autisim, does have a voice and can be heard much sooner.
