Justice Department Reaches ADA Settlement with Trinity Health Systems in Iowa

The U.S. Department of Justice has reached a settlement under the [Americans with Disabilities Act][1] (ADA) with Trinity Health Systems to make sure that Trinity Regional Medical Center provides effective communication to individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing. The lawsuit claimed that Trinity failed to provide deaf individuals with sign language interpreters to communicate with health care providers. The lawsuit also claimed that Trinity had a young girl provide sign language interpretation for her mother who is deaf.
