Here is a summary of that study [1] :Vitamin D (supplements?) or a high amount of milk, probably vitamin D fortified, were given to expectant mothers. This results showed that _"…MS was diagnosed in 199 women … The relative risk of MS was lower among women born to mothers with high milk or vitamin D intake during pregnancy…."_

Two remarks:
* 199 mothers had MS out of cohort of 35,794 nurses in that Nurses' Health Study II. that represents 0.6% of this population of nurses, close enough to the ~0.5% of US women with MS
* The amount of Vitamin D ingested through drinking commercial milk could not have been very high: a cup of vitamin D fortified milk contains 25% of the daily US recommended dose of 400 IU a day [2]. Therefore the vitamin D might have been addressing a defficiency….
