Lawsuit Filed against the University of Nebraska at Kearney for Discrimination against Students with Disabilities

The U.S. Department of Justice has filed a lawsuit against the University of Nebraska at Kearney for violating the [Fair Housing Act][1] (FHA) by discriminating against students with disabilities. The university denied reasonable accommodation requests by students with psychological or emotional disabilities who wanted to live with emotional assistance animals in university housing. It violates the FHA to refuse a reasonable accommodation to provide persons with disabilities an equal opportunity to use or enjoy a dwelling.
