More Than 5 Percent of School-Aged Children Reported to Have a Disability

This report gives data on the disability status of children aged 5 to 17 who are enrolled in public schools. These data are presented for the civilian, noninstitutionalized population in the United States, states and metropolitan statistical areas using data from the 2010 [American Community Survey][1]. According to the report, of the 53.9 million school-aged children in the U.S., about 2.8 million (5.2 percent) were reported to have a disability in 2010. This link opens a PDF document.
