New Van is Designed from Scratch For Wheelchair Users

Ok, so there are several companies such as Braunability that offer converted vans. The vans are to be found at local dealers such as, for Northern california,  MobilityWorks,. [LifestyleMobility][1],[ Freedom Motors USA ][2],[NorCalMobility][3]. Companies that offer to fully convert your vans are little harder to find, but those we just mentionned do to a large extent.

Those conversions are not cheap, since they require substantial work, and a decent profit margin…Cost varies between $18,000 to $ 25,000 for the conversion of an existing regular van. The cost of a new fully converted van is in the 50k+

But we learned, from WPTV in Florida, that a local small company called Vehicle Production Group, has designed a vehicle to serve the wheelchair user community: They call it with the less than glamorous name of MV-1. The looks cannot compete with a Honda Odyssey. but:

* _It is fully ready as a vehicle for handicapped at manufacturing time_
* _The cost of a new MV-1 is relatively  reasonable $42k+_
* 36″ by 56″ doorway featuring low step-in that allows easy entry for all passengers.
* Best-in-class interior room, seating up to 6 comfortably.

Company has ~50 dealers nationwide and two cab companies in Connecticut have ordered 140 MV-1s to use as taxis (WPTV)
