Maverik Agrees to Pay $115, 000 to Settle EEOC Lawsuit for Disability Discrimination

The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) has charged Maverik, Inc. with violating the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) by failing to provide reasonable accommodations and then firing an employee who is HIV-positive. Maverik learned of the employee's HIV status when it was disclosed in a workers' compensation proceeding. Under the ADA, employers must provide [reasonable accommodations][1] to an employee with a disability, unless it causes significant difficulty or expense for the employer.
