Health Reform Law Provides Coverage for Nearly 50, 000 Americans with Pre-Existing Conditions

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has announced that the new health care law's [Pre-Existing Condition Insurance Plan][1] (PCIP) is providing insurance to nearly 50,000 people with high-risk pre-existing conditions nationwide. A new [report][2] shows how PCIP is helping people with pre-existing conditions who have been denied insurance coverage and are ineligible for [Medicare][3]. Until 2014, when insurers will have to cover all Americans with pre-existing conditions, the PCIP program will continue to provide people who enroll with affordable insurance coverage.
