DOL Extends Comment Deadline on Proposed Rule to Provide Minimum Wage & Overtime Protections for In-Home Care Workers - Deadline March 12

The U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) has extended its comment period from** February 27 to March 12, 2012** for its [**proposed rule**][1] to provide minimum wage and overtime protections for nearly 2 million in-home care service workers****. Currently, workers who are classified as "companions" are exempt from the [Fair Labor Standards Act's][2] pay requirements. The rule would give minimum wage and overtime protections to all home care workers employed by agencies or other third parties. Submit comments at [www.regulations.gov][3].
