HHS Providing More than $1.7 Billion to States to Help Low-Income Households with Energy Costs

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is sending more than $1.7 billion to states to help low-income citizens with their heating and home energy costs. The money is being issued under the [Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program][1] (LIHEAP) block grant. LIHEAP assists qualified families with their home energy needs such as heating in the winter and cooling in the summer. Individuals interested in applying for energy assistance should contact their [local/state LIHEAP agency][2].
