U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Sebelius released a statement in recognition of April as National Autism Awareness Month and the challenges faced by those with [Autism Spectrum Disorders][1] (ASD). A recent report from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's about the increase in the number of children identified with ASD reaffirms that autism is a critical public health issue that impacts the lives of millions of Americans. The Obama administration renews its commitment to improving the lives of individuals with autism and their families by supporting research and improving services.
