Resources for Human Development (RHD) Settles EEOC Discrimination Suit for $125, 000

The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) charged RHD with violating the [Americans with Disabilities Act][1] (ADA) when it fired a long-time employee because of her disability, severe obesity, even though she was able to perform her job. Unfortunately, the employee died before the EEOC filed suit. RHD argued that severe obesity isn't a disability. Under the ADA, all people with a disability, including severe obesity, who are qualified for their jobs are protected from unlawful discrimination.
