Stevens Transport to Pay $50, 000 to Settle EEOC Disability Discrimination Lawsuit

The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) charged Stevens Transport with violating the [Americans with Disabilities Act][1] (ADA) when it refused to hire a job applicant because he has a disability. The applicant is a paraplegic who was well qualified for the two positions he applied for at the company. The applicant had successful phone interviews, but he was told that there was concern that he wouldn't be able to keep up with the pace of the work. It is against the ADA to refuse to hire an applicant due to their disability.
