HUD, Puerto Rico Condo Association Reach $1 Million Discrimination Settlement Over Repairs

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) has reached an agreement with Condominium Association Isleta Marina over claims that the property's nonworking elevators violated the [Fair Housing Act][1] (FHA). A resident with a mobility disability claimed that because the elevators were not working, she had to use the stairs of the condo. Under the FHA it is against the law for landlords to deny persons with disabilities equal opportunities to use and enjoy their homes. Find out about how to file a [housing complaint][2].
