Health Partners, Inc. to Pay $25, 000 to Settle EEOC Disability Discrimination Case

The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) charged Health Partners, Inc., a rehabilitation and nursing company, with violating the [Americans with Disabilities Act][1] (ADA) for refusing to allow an employee to start working after she tested positive for tuberculosis on a preliminary skin test. Such conduct violates the ADA because the company regarded the employee as being disabled even though she was not contagious and did not pose a health risk to other employees.
