Roadrunner Redi-Mix to Pay $80, 000 to Settle EEOC Disability Discrimination Suit

The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) has charged Roadrunner Redi-Mix with violating the [Americans with Disabilities Act][1] (ADA) for failing to provide reasonable accommodations to an employee. The employee, who has a neck impairment, had requested an exemption from having to clean the concrete barrel of his truck, and from using the jackhammer in a downward motion. Instead, he was sent home and eventually fired. Under the ADA, employers must provide reasonable accommodations to an employee with a disability, unless it causes significant difficulty or expense for the employer.
