OPWDD Launches Camera Pilot Program to Increase Safety in State Vehicles that Transport Individuals

The New York State Office for People with Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD) has started a new safety program that will place video recording and global positioning system devices in vehicles that transport people who receive services by OPWDD. The new system will make the transportation safer when individuals are in transit, help resolve complaints and maintain a record of evidence when there is an allegation of abuse. Also, recordings can identify false accusations against employees, reducing the need for law enforcement and OPWDD financial resources that could be better spent on true accusations.

Isn't that good news? This is a result of the new phase three results of the three-year REFLEXION clinical trial trial for Interferon beta-1a:

This is to prevent , or slow down the progression to full blown unequivocal Multiple Sclerosis diagnostic. The patients involved , as reported by "mscare" [1], followed this profile

Non definite MS meant one MS like attack experiencing a first clinical episode suggestive of a demyelinating event, such as tingling, numbness, muscle weakness or problems with balance. This with in addition at least two clinically silent brain lesions detected by a brain MRI scan.

While clinically definite meant two attacks. For a classic work on MS diagnosis see the McDonald report [2]

This is a not exactly your US Avonex or Rebif, but a human serum albumin-free formulation of interferon beta-1a. Such version is only available currently in European Union countries, Australia, Canada and Switzerland, as well as a number of countries in Asia, Latin America, Africa

The risk is that the Interferon is not without possible side effects, see drugs.com [3]. Certainly tingling, numbness, muscle weakness or problems with balance can have other diagnosis than MS.

Then, what about the people "at risk" of MS without clinical MRI tell tale, Should they take it too?

NCD Releases Report on Developmental Disabilities Act

The National Council on Disability (NCD) has released its latest report, _["Exploring New Paradigms for the Developmental Disabilities Assistance and Bill of Rights Act."][1]_ The report calls for more unified federal policies to implement the [DD Act][2] and to provide individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities with needed information, skills and opportunities so that they can have fully participate in their communities. The recommendations are based on the latest developments, challenges and achievements of the DD Act since its last reauthorization in 2000.
