Postsecondary Education & Employment Among Youth with an Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)

Results of a study published in the _Pediatrics_ journal find that youth with ASD face more difficulty finding work and educational opportunities after high school compared with youth with other disabilities. Thirty-five percent of youth with ASD had attended college and 55 percent had held paid employment during the first six years after high school. Once students graduate from high school, it becomes very difficult for them because there are no federally mandated programs or services to help them.
