Health Care Providers Settle HIV Discrimination Complaints with Justice Department

The U.S. Department of Justice has reached settlements resolving claims that health care providers refused services to people with HIV in violation of the [Americans with Disabilities Act][1] (ADA). Two men with HIV were denied medical services by a podiatrist and a chiropractor because of their HIV. The ADA requires public accommodations, like doctors' offices, to provide individuals with disabilities, including people with HIV, equal access to goods, services, privileges, accommodations, facilities, advantages and accommodations.
